Tom Ford, a famous cowboy star, vanishes, and his double Gene Autry takes his place. However, Ford's debt to gangster Rico remains unpaid, and Rico seeks revenge, discovering Autry's impersonation. Rico then blackmails Wilson and his movie studio, threatening to expose the ruse.
