The story of Katsushika Oei, a talented artist in her own right, is told in this dramatized account. Despite her own abilities, Oei is dissatisfied with her skills and dedicates nearly 20 years to nursing her father, the renowned Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, after he suffers a stroke. The film also follows Oei as she travels to London to see an exhibition at the British Museum featuring Hokusai's works, as well as her own.
