The Dilapidated Dwelling background

The Dilapidated Dwelling

A snow architecture expert is called back to Britain to solve the mystery of a unique and intriguing abode.

A woman returns to Britain from the Arctic, where she worked with people building houses from snow, to investigate the problem of housing. She finds that the global economy has failed to reduce the cost of new homes, and instead, has increased the value of existing, dilapidated housing. As she searches for a place to settle with her new love, she explores the ideas of utopian architects like Constant, Buckminster Fuller, and Archigram, but finds that their concepts have had little impact on the housing market. Despite this, she discovers that some individuals have successfully implemented innovative building techniques, and there is a renewed interest in social housing. However, she ultimately concludes that it may be impossible to reconcile the needs of housing with the globalized economy.
