In the whimsical town of EggTown, a mysterious thief steals pastries from a bakery, leaving behind a clue on his cloak. The thief, Terrible Timothy Take-It, returns to his mother's home, where he leaves the cloak behind. The next day, Timothy's mother, Tiny Tessie, is accused of the crime, but Horrible Harriet Hare, a schoolteacher, clears her name. Meanwhile, Harriet and the town's headmaster, Big Boring Benedict Bunny, have feelings for each other but are too afraid to express them.

A sly thief is caught stealing pastries in EggTown under the cover of night, but is foiled by the Good Gracious Grasshopper's sharp eyesight, which reveals a crucial clue in the form of a distinctive cloak.
