The Emperor Waltz background

The Emperor Waltz

A charming American salesman of gramophones ventures into the lavish society of early 20th-century Austria, striving to gain the esteemed endorsement of Emperor Franz Joseph.

In early 20th-century Austria, a charming traveling salesman named Virgil Smith tries to peddle his Grammophones to the emperor, but his attempts are initially foiled by palace guards who mistake his device for a bomb. After meeting the beautiful Countess Johanna von Stolzenberg-Stolzenberg, Virgil finds himself smitten, with his loyal dog Buttons playing matchmaker. However, their love is threatened by the societal norms of the time, as the emperor disapproves of a relationship between a countess and an ordinary American citizen.
