A career robber, Doc McCoy, is released from prison after being denied parole. He's forced to plan and execute a robbery for a corrupt businessman in exchange for his freedom. The robbery doesn't go as planned, and Doc and his wife, Carol, go on the run, pursued by various individuals and law enforcement. Along the way, they encounter a seemingly ordinary couple, Fran and Harold Clinton, who become entangled in their situation. As they try to evade capture and make their way to Mexico, Doc and Carol must confront their own issues and secrets.
