A lonely widower, Ron Gibb, forms a bond with a high school cheerleader, Ally, after she breaks up with her boyfriend. When Ally is kidnapped, the police are stumped by the lack of a ransom demand, and Ron's own investigation leads him to suspect Ally's father, a used car salesman with questionable ethics. As Ron searches for answers, he must also confront his own feelings and notice the subtle attentions of a neighbor who has been trying to get his attention.
