A US soldier in Vietnam makes a heartfelt promise to his dying comrade to care for his beloved motorcycle, "Baby", upon his return home. Upon discharge, he reunites with his friend's grieving girlfriend, claims the bike, and soon finds himself entangled in a conflict with rival bikers who dispute his ownership of the motorcycle and the woman.
