The Idol background

The Idol

A talented musician from Gaza takes a courageous leap by auditioning for the prestigious "Arab Idol" competition, defying cultural and geographical boundaries.

In Gaza, Mohammed Assaf's exceptional singing talent is nurtured by his sister Nour and friends, including Kamal, who helps him hone his vocal skills. Tragedy strikes when Nour passes away, leaving Mohammed consumed by sorrow and bitterness. As war ravages his hometown, he's forced to drive a taxi to fund his studies. Despite his passion for singing, Mohammed sees it as a distant dream, possible only if he leaves Gaza. His sole hope lies in competing in the renowned "Arab Idol" contest, but obtaining a visa to leave seems impossible.
