A young schoolgirl, Jerilee Randall, aspires to become a renowned screenwriter and meets the son of a famous screenwriter at a party. She accepts his invitation to visit his home, only to be assaulted by one of his friends with a garden hose. The attack is interrupted by screenwriter Walter Thornton, who becomes her friend and eventually her husband.
