A scientist, Dr. Igor Markoff, creates a serum that causes grotesque physical deformities in test subjects. He becomes obsessed with winning the favor of a young woman, Patricia, whose resemblance to his dead wife fascinates him. When she rejects him, Markoff injects her father, a famous pianist, with the serum, causing his fingers to grow deformed and his face to distort.
