A struggling writer from Sevilla, Álvaro, feels overshadowed by his wife's sudden success as a novelist. He enrolls in a night class, seeking guidance from his teacher José, to write the great novel of all time. After discovering his wife's infidelity, Álvaro takes a break and moves to a new apartment, where he becomes embroiled in the lives of his neighbors, including a Mexican couple facing financial struggles and an elderly man with extreme right-wing views. As Álvaro's obsession with writing grows, he manipulates those around him to achieve his goal, leading to a chaotic and unpredictable outcome.
