Egotistical reporter Red Foster is sent to cover the arrival of an ocean liner, where he meets Cassie, a manicurist who lost her American citizenship. She proposes a deal: she'll share a big kidnapping story with him if he marries her. Just as they're exchanging vows, Public Enemy Number One, Tonelli, escapes with the help of a mysterious reporter. Red's paper fires him, but Cassie calls him back with a new lead, claiming the burned man in an accident is Tonelli. However, it's revealed to be a trap, and Red is fired again. Cassie is arrested, but manages to send a message to Red, who helps her and the police capture Tonelli in an ambulance. The exclusive story earns Red his job back, and the couple decides to go on a real honeymoon.
