A former military officer, James Wingate, inherits a ranch in Montana after being wrongly accused of embezzlement and leaving his life in the UK. He becomes embroiled in a feud with a local bootlegger and must also confront a corrupt sheriff. Along the way, he falls in love with a Native American woman, Naturich, and they have a son together. However, their happiness is short-lived as Wingate's past mistakes eventually catch up with him, leading to a tragic conclusion.
