The Wooden Camera background

The Wooden Camera

In a small township near Cape Town, two teenage friends stumble upon a gun and camera, unleashing a chain of events that irreversibly alter their lives.

In a post-Apartheid South Africa, two 14-year-old boys, Madiba and Sipho, stumble upon a dead man with a gun and a video camera. Sipho takes the gun, while Madiba becomes fascinated with the camera, using it to film their township and its inhabitants. As they explore the city, they meet Estelle, a young white girl from a wealthy family who is eager to break free from her comfortable but prejudiced life. Despite their different backgrounds, the three form a strong bond, with Madiba and Estelle's friendship blossoming. However, Sipho's involvement in street crime and addiction ultimately leads to his tragic death, leaving Madiba and Estelle to navigate their future through art and love.
