Tess graduates from Miss Drake's School for Girls, but notices her mother, Louise, missing from the ceremony. Louise is actually recovering from exhaustion at Dr. Cannon's office. The family decides she needs a vacation, and Louise reluctantly agrees to go on a Cuban cruise without her daughters. The girls then try to reunite their mother with their absent father, unaware of the truth about his past and their mother's reasons for keeping him away. Meanwhile, Louise has a romantic encounter with pianist Jose Iturbi on her cruise and returns home with a secret to share with her daughters, who have their own secret to reveal.
