Tia, a 10-year-old Syrian refugee, struggles to adjust to her new life in Montreal with her pregnant mother and father. She longs for her grandmother still in Syria and feels lonely without friends her age. After receiving a book about the Arctic, Tia discovers a portal to the northern tip of Nunavut, where she befriends Piujuq, a similar-aged Inuk girl living in a tent with her grandmother. As they play and learn about each other's cultures, Tia uncovers Inuk myths and legends through Piujuq's grandmother.
