In a small town near Gordontown, a wealthy banker's family is threatened by outlaws, but U.S. Marshal Johnny Mack Brown arrives just in time to save them. As he visits his old friend, retired Marshal Dusty Dekker, a power-hungry man named Jim Laren arrives with plans to take over the town and the Gordon family's holdings. Laren kills the banker and poses as his wife, Annie, who supposedly deserted him 18 years earlier. Johnny teams up with the sheriff to uncover the truth and clear Dusty's name.
