White Zombie

A young couple, Madeleine and Neil, are persuaded by a acquaintance to get married on his Haitian plantation, but his motives are selfish and he tries to convince Madeleine to run away with him. He seeks help from a man who controls people through a zombie-like potion, but things take a dark turn when Madeleine becomes emotionless and the man has no intention of changing her back.
