Set in the French Quarter of New Orleans after World War Two, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE follows Blanche DuBois, a fragile and neurotic woman searching for a place to belong. After being exiled from her hometown for seducing a 17-year-old boy, Blanche arrives at her sister Stella's doorstep, claiming nervous exhaustion due to financial calamities that have destroyed their family plantation. Stanley, Stella's husband, is suspicious and territorial, and their relationship with Blanche is defined by their opposing natures.
