Gulliver Sheils, a young Dubliner, daydreams of leaving his mundane life for the idyllic Rarotonga. When his financial dreams seem out of reach, he waits outside Trinity College, hoping to find a wealthy benefactor to reward him for his bravery. Despite Jennifer's affections, Gulliver's patience is rewarded when he befriends a tycoon who offers to take him to the South Seas. However, their own traffic accident forces Gulliver to reevaluate his true feelings for Jennifer, ultimately choosing to stay in Dublin.
