In 1962 Parma, a 20-year-old student named Fabrizio navigates his Marxist beliefs and forced assimilation into the upper class, torn between his parents' values and his own desires. As he prepares to marry his wealthy and apolitical fiancée, Clelia, Fabrizio's life is disrupted by the arrival of his troubled aunt Gina, leading him to question his destiny and the path he's been expected to follow.
