A young man with bipolar disorder, Harry Poole, enrolls in a clinical trial for a miracle drug under Dr. Lanyon's supervision. The drug transforms him into a more charismatic and charming person, and he even seduces a nurse named Anna. Harry creates a new personality, "Edward Grey", and becomes outgoing and bold. However, the trial is discontinued due to reported cases of rage and confusion, and Harry continues the treatment at home, slowly succumbing to his darker alter ego.
