Budrus background

Budrus

In this powerful drama, a Palestinian leader unites rival factions to peacefully defy the destruction of his village, but it's his courageous 15-year-old daughter who plays a pivotal role in their struggle.

In the early 2000s, Israel built a security barrier within the occupied Palestinian territory, forcing the town of Budrus to lose 300 acres of ancestral land, 3,000 sacred olive trees, and a divided cemetery. The project threatened the school and sparked a non-violent resistance led by Fatah leader Ayed Morrar and his teenage daughter Iltezam, joined by Palestinian women and later, Jewish youngsters. International media coverage exposed the Israeli soldiers' abuses, ultimately prompting Israel to change the barrier's route, minimizing the impact on Budrus.
