In this movie, a bank clerk named Raymond escapes his mundane life by teaching samba to British students at night. However, his world is turned upside down when he discovers his wife is cheating on him with his boss. Seeking a fresh start, Raymond decides to rob the bank and pursue his passion for Rio de Janeiro and the beautiful Orlinda, a samba dancer. Upon arrival, he meets a charismatic cab driver and becomes entangled in a world of crime, led by a powerful "bicheiro" who runs an illegal lottery.
