In a Victorian village of the late 1800s, Victor Van Dort and Victoria Everglot are forced into a betrothal, as the Everglots face poverty and the Van Dorts seek social status. However, things go awry during the rehearsal, and Victor finds himself accidentally married to Emily, the Corpse Bride, in the woods. Meanwhile, Victoria waits on the other side, and a wealthy newcomer threatens to take Victor's place, leaving him to choose between his two brides.
