Simon Phoenix, a convicted crime lord, is revived in 2032 after being frozen since 1996. He resumes his violent ways in a crime-free society, and no one can stop him. Police officer John Spartan, who put Phoenix away, is also thawed out after being mistakenly frozen for 36 years.
