An aspiring photographer from Arizona, Beth Knowlton, unwittingly captures the attention of her college teacher, Stephen Primes, who is significantly older. Primes misinterprets their connection, believing they're developing a romantic relationship. As Primes' obsession grows, Beth lives in constant fear, never knowing what he'll do next. With her mother, a judge, unable to protect her, Beth is forced to flee to another state, only to find Primes relentless in his pursuit, ultimately leading to a dramatic confrontation.
