A veteran investigative sports journalist is working on a story about professional gambling, focusing on a degenerate gambler who ruined his family and can't stop. The journalist, Steve Taggart, visits gambling venues and interviews people, including a friendly casino manager and a former addict, Flo. However, Taggart's own addiction and debt to a loan shark threaten his little daughter's safety. As he tries to deal with his problems through more gambling, writing the article becomes a form of catharsis, leading him to finally face his issues.
