Footsteps in the Fog

In Victorian London, Stephen Lowry, a widower, is perceived as heartbroken by his friends, while his housemaid Lily is aware that his wife was murdered by her husband. Lily uses this knowledge to advance her position in the household and maintain her closeness to Stephen. As Stephen's fortunes improve through a business partnership and a new romance, he decides to terminate Lily's employment, but his initial attempt only strengthens her hold over him.
