John Abbott returns to his desert land, only to be wounded by a hired gunman. He finds friendship with rancher Andrew Naab and his son Marvin, and catches the eye of Naab's daughter Marian. However, Marian is already engaged to Snap Thornton, and her love for John is complicated by her promise to her father. When she runs away on her wedding day, she's captured by outlaw Henry Holderness, and John, the Naabs, and other ranchers join forces to rescue her.
