A talented singer dons a disguise to join a orchestra, captivating the conductor's heart and her own, but her father, a LA DJ, disapproves of her musical ambitions.

Patty Nelson, a talented singer, lands a job with Al Tyler's orchestra under the pseudonym Parry Hart. As they fall in love, Patty's father, a disc jockey, disapproves of her career choice. When Al leaves the band to replace a dated disc jockey named Russ Nelson in Hollywood, Patty follows him, unaware that Russ is her father. After a series of events, the three ultimately team up on the air together.
