Joe Hill, a legendary figure, leaves his brother behind in the early 1900s and settles in the United States. Despite facing injustice and tragedy, Joe finds work and becomes involved with the IWW, a union for workers without trades, despite it being forbidden. He uses his music with the Salvation Army to spread his message, gaining followers and enemies alike. As tensions escalate, Joe is accused of murder and decides to defend himself in court, replacing his lawyer and taking a bold stand.
