Johnnie Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet, two hats, fall in love in a New York City department store display window. When Alice is purchased, Johnnie is heartbroken, but finds new hope when he gets an owner of his own. He searches the city for Alice from atop his new owner's head until they reunite, albeit briefly, before Johnnie's adventures take a dramatic turn.
