Milton Higby, a struggling inventor, is wrongly accused of murder and goes on the run. Along the way, he discovers another body and assumes the victim's identity, pretending to be the missing son of a wealthy industrialist. However, his new persona is soon uncovered, and he's charged with a second murder.
