The film focuses on three talented children, two boys from Senegal and Tajikistan, and a little girl from Maldives, as they compete against older opponents in a thrilling display of Quranic recitation, pronunciation, and memorization. As they navigate the competition, they are also torn between the rigid expectations of fundamentalist Islam and the more moderate views of their own faith.
