Anna's carefree life is disrupted when her aunt and cousin, Marga and Pilar, arrive at her parents' house, bringing with them a new set of values and beliefs that challenge her family's traditional way of life. As the family's political views shift, Anna's father is labeled a communist, and her family is forced to move to a smaller apartment, where they are surrounded by "bearded men" who represent a new and unfamiliar world.
