Land of Fury background

Land of Fury

A British sailor forms a deep connection with a Maori chief in 1821, but his life takes a dramatic turn when he returns to England and gets married. Years later, he sets out to start anew in New Zealand with a small group of settlers, haunted by his complicated past.

British seaman Phillip Wayne befriends a Maori tribe and their chief, Hongi Tepe, in 1821. When he returns to England, he's tasked with smuggling silk, but discovers his captain is involved in trafficking Maori shrunken heads. Arrested and fined, Wayne is banned from the sea and decides to settle in New Zealand with his fiancée and a group of settlers. However, coexisting with the warlike Maori proves challenging.
