Victor Garnier, a shopkeeper, naively invests his family's savings in an African mine, following his banker's advice. When the mine is nationalized, leaving the stock worthless, Victor feels betrayed by the bank and decides to take revenge by robbing it. He enlists the help of his family, who were also misled, and they plan to dig a tunnel to gain access to the bank. However, the venture proves to be challenging, especially for ordinary people who have their own personal struggles. Victor's wife, in particular, has a tendency to reveal the truth, putting their criminal plan at risk.
