Al Fuller joins a group of hoboes, entertaining them with his songs and good humor. He recalls his past, where he was a minstrel in the Meadow Merry Minstrels, in love with Nora, the owner's daughter, but she had a weakness for Westy. After the sheriff invests in the act, they become prosperous, and Al returns home to see his mother. He declares his love for Nora, sparking Westy's jealousy, and eventually gets arrested but escapes on a freight train.
