Based on Li Cunxin's autobiography, a drama follows his journey from a poor Chinese village to the world of ballet. At 11, he was discovered by Madame Mao's cultural delegates and taken to Beijing to study ballet. He later defected to the US, where he became a principal dancer for the Houston Ballet and a principal artist with the Australian Ballet.
