Squadron Leader Quint Munroe, a World War II RAF pilot, struggles with the loss of his brother-like friend David 'Scotty' Scott, presumed killed in action. Quint is tasked with a crucial reconnaissance mission to photograph the château de Charlon in occupied France, where the Nazis are developing new flying bombs. The photos reveal an underground launching tunnel, leading to a top-secret mission to destroy the Luftwaffe installation. Quint must select and train a team in just 10 days to complete the impossible task. Along the way, he falls in love with Scotty's widow, Beth, and faces a dilemma when Scotty is revealed to be alive, captured by the Gestapo.
