A lonely and aging widower, Willy Krueger, lives in a basement apartment with his cat George. On Christmas Eve, he imagines himself as a well-dressed gentleman while buying a tree and later, dreams of conducting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He invites carolers to visit him, offering hot chocolate, but they leave after one song. Willy finds himself in the manger for the first Christmas, and discovers the true reason to celebrate.
