Guy Maddin, a filmmaker from Winnipeg, Manitoba, feels trapped in his hometown where people seem to sleepwalk through life. He's unsure what's kept him there, so he plans to reenact his childhood during his parents' 65th anniversary celebration. The event will take place in the old family home, above their former hair salon business, where he'll relive memories with actors playing his family, except his mother who will play herself.
