Next Time Ned is a story about a man in his forties who has been trying to make it as an actor for almost thirty years. Despite his biggest claim to fame being playing a corpse in Taggart, he remains optimistic about his chances of success. A documentary crew follows him for a week, capturing his humorous and sometimes disastrous auditions, his attempt at stand-up comedy, and his efforts to produce his own one-man show. The film also explores his personal life, including his relationships with his son and ill mother, and ultimately shows a man who refuses to give up on his dreams.
