Mary Adams, a woman with a troubled past, works in a waterfront restaurant where the owner, who cheated her father out of a fortune, maltreats her. She steals $25,000, serves a short sentence, and then helps another restaurateur, Dragomie Damitrod, with a gambling debt, only to discover he didn't steal the money. After killing him, she donates the money to an orphanage and surrenders to the police, where she learns Damitrod is still alive. Along the way, she finds love with a fisherman named Johnny.
One Girl's Confession
