Olivia Carver, a widowed artist, faces the possibility of losing her job at a New York gallery due to lack of funding. She's struggling to overcome her artistic block and find inspiration. Her son Parker is also struggling after his father's passing. Olivia returns to her hometown of Wellington for Christmas and discovers a Christmas mural contest, which she initially declines to enter due to her block. However, her mother submits one of her old paintings on her behalf, and Olivia wins the contest. She meets the runner-up, Will Campbell, who becomes a support for her in both art and life. As they work together on the mural and learn more about each other, they start to fall for each other. Olivia must decide whether to take a chance with Will and leave behind the life she had planned with her late husband and son.
