Outerborough background

Outerborough

The first film ever shot in the United States was a three-minute visual journey across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, recorded by a photographer in 1899.

In 1899, a photographer mounted a camera on a trolley and captured the journey from Manhattan to Brooklyn, creating a 3-minute film called Across the Brooklyn Bridge. Decades later, avant-garde filmmaker Bill Morrison reworked the footage, combining it in a split-screen format for a unique and captivating visual experience.
