Teenager David Roberts is sent to spend the summer with his grumpy grandfather on a sheep farm on the Isle of Man, where they struggle to connect due to their vastly different personalities. Despite their differences, they share a love for dogs, particularly Adam's champion sheepdog Bob. David befriends Maggie, the daughter of a neighbor, but their budding friendship is complicated by Adam's long-standing feud with the Moore family over a past canine competition tragedy. The tension is heightened by a series of mysterious sheep killings, which many suspect are committed by Bob and the Moore's dog.
