In Nazi-occupied Belgium, a young boy named Jean Benoit stumbles upon a wounded reconnaissance pilot who has crashed his plane. The pilot, Major Theodore 'Ted' Brice, is taken in by the Daussois family, who are part of the Maquis Resistance. As Ted recovers, he reveals that he needs to retrieve a crucial book of codes, but it's being guarded by the Nazis. Meanwhile, Ted and Claire, the family's daughter, develop a romantic connection. However, their love is put to the test when Henri, Claire's father, discovers their affair and betrays Ted, leading to tragic consequences.
